Dehonian presence since 1910

Our Founder
Father Dehon, founder of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. His life was a constant journey. Leo John Dehon was born in La Capelle, diocese of Soissons (France) on March 14, 1843, into a family of wealthy landowners of noble descent.

Charism
Our founder contemplated the love of God that gives itself to the last drop. He saw in the pierced side of Christ on the cross the most evocative expression of this great love. Then, Fr. Dehon contemplated the society of his time and realized that the origin of all evils lay in the rejection of Christ's love.

Spirituality
"Father Dehon wanted his members to explicitly unite their religious and apostolic life to Christ's reparatory offering to the Father for men. To the Ecce Venio of Jesus, the Founder unites the Ecce Ancilla of Mary: "In these wordsare contained our entire vocation, our purpose, our duty, our promises" (Const. 6).

Dehonians in the world
The Congregation was born international. By the death of Father Dehon (1925), it was already present in more than 20 countries and on four continents. Today, it is present in more than 40 countries.
Reparation
"Only with love can the wounds of the heart be repaired".
Father Dehon
Vocation
It is necessary to embrace one's own vocation and enter into the process of constant maturity through a daily yes! Vocational accompaniment consists of mutual knowledge. The Congregation knows the person with the vocation, even if superficially, and the person with the vocation knows the Congregation. Together, the person with the vocation and the Congregation listen to the voice of God, seeking to identify what His will is.
