✝ Death of Fr. Roger Phaneuf, scj
On January 11, 2026, in Montreal, Father Roger Phaneuf, SCJ, passed away. Son of the late Rollande Gérardand the late Paul Phaneuf, and brother of the late Jean-Paul, he was born on June 12, 1938, in Montreal. He is survived by his brother Gilles (Denise Martin), his nephews Carl, Daniel, Pierre, and Jean, his niece Manon, the members of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, and many friends.
He entered the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart on September 8, 1961 and was ordained a priest on February 24, 1967. He worked at the Sacred Heart Seminary in Pointe-au-Chêne as director of students, professor and director of studies, and was a parish priest in various parishes in the dioceses of Saint-Jérôme, Saint-Jean-Longueuil and Gatineau.
The family and the Priests of the Sacred Heart wish to thank the management and staff of Carrefour Providence.
His colleagues and family will receive relatives and friends at the Desforges Funeral Home (188 Rue Principale, Grenville, QC J0V 1J0) on Sunday, January 18, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Monday, January 19, starting at 9:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held at Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs Church (322 Rue Principale, Grenville, QC J0V 1J0) on Monday, January 19, at 11:00 a.m. The burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Procure des Missions des Prêtres du Sacré-Coeur would be appreciated.
