First Annual World Conference "Open Heart and Mind"
The first Annual World Conference "Open Heart and Mind" is a concept born from a meeting between Father Richard, Father Gustave, and Anastasiia Lavrynets, who sought to address contemporary challenges by promoting Dehonian values among young people. The idea gained widespread support from Dehonian communities across continents, including Rome, Ottawa, Brazil, the US, Spain, and Indonesia, turning it into a collaborative reality.
The conference was officially opened by Father Carlos, General Superior of the Dehonian Community. It successfully gathered 10 schools and one group representing seven schools from Spain, encompassing over 70 participants from eight countries and four continents (Indonesia, Madagascar, Spain, Italy, Brazil, the US, Chile, and Canada). Each team created a short video presentation sharing ideas and projects related to the theme, covering diverse topics such as environmental protection, kindness, mental wellness, anti-bullying, responsibility, and leadership through love. All participating schools were recognized with unique nominations, reinforcing the message that every action rooted in love contributes positively to the world.
This first edition marks the beginning of a new Dehonian tradition, symbolized by the conference anthem, "Open Heart and Mind." Looking ahead, the organizers plan to expand the event, aiming to partner with Educare Dehonians—the international Dehonian organization—for future support and collaboration. The "Open Heart and Mind" Conference has established itself as more than just an event; it is a movement of compassion, reflection, and unity that successfully connects hearts and minds across geographical divides, proving the transformative power of shared Dehonian values in action.
