The Jubilee celebrations during the Annual Assembly in Arnprior
On the 2025 annual assembly of the Canadian Region in Arnprior, Ottawa. the SCJ members of the Region Canada celebrated the Jubilees of 4 of the conferees. For Fr. John Van Den Hengel, it was his 60 years of priesthood, for Fr. Richard Woodbury it was the occasion of his 60 years of religious profession, and Br. Dieudonne Tehouteu and Fr. Johannes Yuliwan celebrated their 40 years of religious profession.
Fr. John who is a member of Ottawa community, was a professor of Theology in St. Paul University. Now, though retired, continues to write books and articles on various topics. Fr. Richard, a member of the Montreal community, is actively involved in the parish ministries as a committed Pastor of his flock and serves as the Chaplin of the Sacred Heart School. Br. Dieudonne is member of the Montreal community and serves the community as the local treasurer and bursar. Fr. Yuliwan, member of the Toronto community is the chaplain of the Indonesian Catholic community in Toronto, Calgary and a newly established community in Edmonton.
The celebration began with the eucharistic celebration, presided by Fr. John and soon after the mass, all the members gathered in the conference hall where the jubilarians were congratulated and wished by the representatives of each community. Later celebration was continued with a special dinner and when the dinner got over , as the tradition, the members stated to wish the jubilarians singing in their own languages. The songs were sung in English, French, Portuguese, Indonesian, Malayalam, Congolese and Cameronian languages. The celebration was simple but very meaningful.
